Amateur as innovator. Charles Leadbeater Presentation
Last year, I wrote a entry called Innovation for the Rest of Us.

I recently found Charles Leadbeater's Talk on TED about collaborative creativity. I like his insights.
His theories on innovation have compelled some of the world’s largest organizations to rethink their strategies.
A financial journalist turned innovation consultant, Leadbeater noticed the rise of "pro-ams" -- passionate amateurs who act like professionals, making breakthrough discoveries in many fields, from software to astronomy to kite-surfing.

Great post and thanks for sharing the TED video. I agree that "expertise" can frequently constrain unconsciously one's ability to innovate (too many past experiences about what works and what doesn't).
Approaching problems with "The Novice's Mind" is always a great strategy, and the rise of "Pro-Am's" who are innovating outside of the historical domains of their expertise is a great way to force this unconstrained thinking.
Recruit an amateur to join your pro innovation team!!

Thank you for reading and commenting. Many of the innovations that are changing the way we interact were from individuals or smaller teams. Facebook. Twitter. Netflix.
An amateur brings a different persepective which doesn't mean the idea will come from him of her, but it must may send your managment team in a whole new direction or thought path.
